Levophacetoperane for ADHD
Levophacetoperane1
Other names: NLS-3 or (R, R)-enantiomer of phacetoperane
Brand name: Lidepran® (8228 R.P.)
Levophacetoperane is the reverse ester of methylphenidate.
It was marketed in Canada and Europe in the late 1950s for the treatment of ADHD, obesity and depression.
(Levo-)phacetoperane differs from other stimulants in its effect on the catecholamine system and showed a favorable risk-benefit ratio.
It has been in extensive clinical use in almost a thousand children and adolescents. It was found to have fewer side effects than comparable stimulant treatments in large dose ranges.
